Not all people who are committed Dems are hardcore liberals. My step-daughter and her husband are loyal Dems, but about as socially conservative as you can get.  My lib son-in-law is very religious (I am not, even though I consider myself a Christian) and gets upset when I make up  (what I consider) funny lyrics to Christmas songs. He is also a Boy Scout leader, gun owner, and hunter.
My step-daughter, another committed Dem, is also very socially conservative.  She's against pot legalization. She didn't like Bernie Sanders for president after finding out his tax plan would cost them many thousands of dollars. Btw, they're both doing very well financially.
They live conservatively and expect people to live traditional, moral  lives. I'm sure there are millions of committed Dems who live similar lives.
So you're asking: why do they support and vote for Democrats?
That's a good question. I believe the s-in-law might eventually turn, but they both believe the Dem Party is on the side of justice, niceness, and goodness.
Republicans, however, are icky, greedy people who just don't care about anybody but themselves. Even though they know both  the wife and I are Republicans. Actually I'm a conservative first, and Republican second.
But the wife and overlook the snotty comments directed at Republicans by my step-daughter and s-in-law. They might turn eventually. Time will tell.

We all know folks like this.    Being a Democrat doesn't mean you're not moral, or religious, or raise great kids.   Democrats aren't the enemy.   They're Americans,  and the biggest difference between them and us is that they are attracted to identity politics and we (used to?) recognize its perniciousness.

The melting pot isn't a natural condition; it needs to be defended.   Tribalism is the natural condition, and America represents the Big Idea of the lion lying down with the lamb,  the shining city on the hill.    We cannot "fight fire with fire" to win the battle because by embracing identity politics ourselves we will surely lose the war.

Being a Democrat doesn't mean you're not moral, or religious, or raise great kids.   Democrats aren't the enemy.

It's hilarious reading your Leftist Apologetics to every single Conservative issue on this board.

To try and lecture us that Democrats/Leftists/Marxists are 'not the enemy' flies straight in the face of facts that the majority of us on this board clearly see and recognize.  Big Government/Socialism/Hedonistic Humanism that you and your fellow Democrats champion are antithetical, corrosive and destructive to the foundational principles that established the nation from the beginning.

And all you do on this board is justify that which is demonstrably destructive to liberty.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

I read this morning that, according to a study,  Rs and Ds are not measurably more supportive of the party to which they belong as compared to a decade ago,  but despise the "other side" considerably more.   I've seen similar studies that suggest that partisans are much less likely than before to have friends or otherwise socialize with folks on the other side.

It seems we tend to view millions of our fellow citizens as the implacable enemy.

I listened to Camile Paglia and Jordan Peterson (Canadian) discussing education.

Higher education consists increasingly as one sided only propaganda and indoctrination.

Gender fluidity is just one insane aspect of the new world view our younger people are subjected to.

In the 1960s the Free Speech Movement sought to give people options. Today the equivalent movement seeks to have only one option.

The one option would have a college professor fired, if he/she said a transgender could never truly be a "woman."

Or if he/she said there is not solid evidence of man-made globull warming.

Or that islam is not really so much a relgion, as a political system based on violence.

Or that capitalism is the best economic system, for giving the most to the widest number of people.

Or that Venezuela, North Korea, Cuba etc. should be held as real world examples of socialism/communism end states.

On this very site, I have nticed so-called "conservatives," using the language of the liberal education establishment (e.g. calling people Nazis and racists if they don't swallow the entire newthink vocabulary of campuses).

IMO, the politicians in DC have enough in common to hold things together in the Swamp, UNTIL...

the money runs out.

All bets are off when the well runs dry, and the checks get smaller, or stop.

You can avoid reality, but you cannot avoid the consequences of avoiding reality.

We can't simply tell leftists 'we're a melting pot' and expect them to agree and stand down with their 'identity politics'. They have defined the battleground and if we do not meet them under the conditions & on the terms they themselves have set then we are basically surrendering the field to them. We may win a few more elections but they clearly are winning the war.

Bad advise and typical of the Bush wing of the party. They never did understand what hit them.

You do realize that not everyone on this site is conservative, don't you?

There are presently a couple of trolls who are all out liberals and they're posting regularly.

Well, gee willikers, there are a few Trumpers on this very forum who would still be doing the same thing if the powers that be here let them.

That lie is pervasive all over Trumpland......

The people running the show will make sure we stay divided. But not to the point of open war. It is all distraction. Smoke and mirrors. A setup. For now.

Look out. Here comes autonomous intelligence. Just short of autonomous artificial intelligence. Watch out for the 5G rollout.

Look at the studies and projects concerning both. The first they can control. There are major danger signs with the second. Meaning that true AI will be beyond control. They have autonomous intelligence in the iphone, etc. Siri, Cortana, Echo.

You are being conditioned to accept transhumanism. They will try to destroy Christianity.  Augmentation. People will buy it. All people of every stripe and color.

And give away their true estate.

Augmentation to help the deaf to hear, the blind to see the crippled to walk, are one thing.

Brain enhancement another. As with many other things there will be inequality. In this case, MONSTROUS inequalities.

The haves will be able, at some point, to induct true Artificial Intellligence in.

And soon after that, people like me, will by both force and necessity, be expendable. But so will millions of others--the formerly useful idiots.

Yes. I am a Luddite. I also truly believe my Creator gave me what I need to go through this life with. As a male Human Being.

She asked me name my foe then. I said the need within some men to fight and kill their brothers without thought of Love or God. Ken Hensley

The money ran out ages ago.

Unless we get this horrific trade imbalance corrected by killing the corp income tax, and attract jobs back to our country.

Next stop will be a massive currency devaluation.
