Consider the hamburger. Producing this staple of the U.S. diet takes 25 kilograms of animal feed, 25 square meters of land, and about 220 liters of water—all for four patties. Statistics like those have persuaded some scientists and environmental activists that eating less meat could have a big impact on carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions. But what would happen if every American made the switch to a plant-only diet? According to a new study, a nation of 320 million vegans would reduce greenhouse gas emissions from agriculture by some 28%, far less than the amount now produced by the livestock industry. The authors claim the switch could also lead to deficiencies in key nutrients—including calcium and several vitamins.

Not gonna happen, why even speculate. This is just globull warming propaganda. And I seriously doubt there would be that big a reduction in fossil fuel usage by farmers, in fact, it would probably increase to supply more veggies and fake soy meat to hungry folks starving from a lack of protein.

They always push the idea that cattle farts contribute to excess greenhouse gas, helping to cause more warming, and yet, if the cattle are replaced on ranches with wild herbivores, like deer, hogs, and bison, they will not contribute to globull warming since they are wild creatures and not part of humanity's agriculture.

I was a vegetarian for a  brief period after college when I moved into my first apartment without roommates.

I couldn't afford meat, unless I went to my mom's house for supper.  After a couple months I was going crazy, I missed it.

I have friends who are Asian Indians and they make lovely vegetarian meals. But that's for dinner parties. Or pot luck. I like meat, milk and eggs. And I'm pretty much a pescataterian at the moment.

Its the beef supply chain they are trying to shut down.  Their ultimate goal is to get the masses eating bugs for protein.    With meal worms you can raise enough protein in a 20 gallon aquarium for one person.   This will facilitate their push to drive everyone to live in large communes where are controllable.

If someone is an honest vegetarian, I have no problem. There are legitmate reasons, affordability like you mentioned, religious reasons,or genuine medical reasons, those are all fine.

What turns people off are the smug, holier than thou, saving the planet and bragging to everyone vegetarians.

Lol. My wife is a vegetarian (who cheats daily), and we have a friend from Hondorus who just doesn't understand the concept. At one point when we were eating out, she popped up and said: " at some point you just need a big ole steak".

At present, my stomach can only tolerate fish as protein or egg beaters. I miss chicken and turkey. And cows. (Hamburger, steak) and of course, pork.

It's weird, because prior to my stomach issues I wasn't a fan of fish. I've learned to like salmon!

I hope my stomach gets better to tolerate hamburgers, meat loafs and pork. I was told maybe a year or two.
