Inside the real DNC scandal, the gun control debate must change & other comments

That memo guaranteeing Hillary Clinton control over the Democratic National Committee during last year’s presidential campaign is “strong evidence that the party really did have its thumb on the scales” during the primaries, says The Week’s Ryan Cooper. But even that obscures “a deeper and more fundamental issue”: From top to bottom, the Democratic Party “is being eaten alive by graft.” Not sacksful of cash, “ no explicit favor trading, nothing illegal, just above-board influence- peddling — in which many, many times the value of that sack full of cash changes hands.” The DNC is “a clubby group of insiders who are concerned above all with maintaining control of the party machinery so they can dole out goodies to themselves and their friends.”
