NBC Hails Rolling Stone as ‘Cultural Bible’ Advancing Liberal Causes

In a friendly softball interview with Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner for Tuesday’s NBC Today, co-host Matt Lauer celebrated the liberal magazine’s 50th anniversary: “For five decades, Rolling Stone magazine has been the home of the cool, the groundbreaking and the controversial....its influence has stretched into pop culture, entertainment, and politics, ultimately becoming the cultural bible for baby boomers.”

Actually when it is representative of that type of Culture" I believe it's called a Necronomicon , not BIBLE.

Wow. Everything Matty said about that low circulation rag is the exact opposite of the truth. Can anyone show me a Baby Boomer who had a subscription to that past 1980? Some cultural bible.

The cultural bible for Boomers, if there was one, was National Lampoon.

Yeah, I really missed that mag.  I had a subscription while they were still a Monthly.  I got the complete works on a DVD set.  PJ O'Rourke was great there.

Rolling Stone has not been culturally relevant since the 1970s left them behind in a cloud of smoke and confusion.

National Lampoon always had better writers and an endearingly dirty, down-to-earth sense of humor utterly lacking among those faux-hipster, urbanite poofters at the Stone.
