Late Night Comedy Has Become Hate Speech

Late night comedy shows are no longer funny. They’ve turned into crude, Trump-bashing political attacks. There is nothing funny about watching a solid hour of the left spewing out hate speech against everything the right believes in. It’s like watching Rachel Maddow — when you’re expecting to see Johnny Carson or Jay Leno. If you want to watch a left-wing political show, you’d watch Maddow, not comedy. There are no conservative major late night comedy hosts.

Long before Trump late-night comedy was rarely funny. Most of it was womyn's men-hate screed, black guys messin' with the crackers (a derogatory term, btw), or GiBLeTQs watching the straights squirm and titter nervously.
Whoopie Goldberg started that whole upper/downer message shtick, and I have never been a fan of it.
I have seen enough cruelty that I don't find it funny, nor crass abusiveness, nor vocal cues a-la-Carlin replete with profanity. Rather than burn the time, I usually just don't watch. When I can sit through an hour of standup and not crack a smile, it just isn't funny.

Jeff Dunham, and Gabriel "Fluffy" Inglesias are about the only two on 'modern' tv to get a laugh on any consistent basis, aside from the redneck comedy tour.

Seventeen Techniques for Truth Suppression

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

I was never into "comedy", late-night or otherwise.

About the last late-night comedian I remember was Johnny Carson when my folks had him on.

I turn the tv on for Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, then turn it back off and head back to the Mac...

Addendum:
There is one guy I always liked:
Steve Martin
After all, he's a banjo player!
