Movie star Mark Wahlberg, a professing Roman Catholic, says he asked God to forgive him for some of his past movie roles, specifically the 1997 Oscar-nominated Boogie Nights where he played an up and coming porn star during the 1970s.

Speaking with Cardinal Blase Cupich in Chicago this past weekend to promote an event for helping Catholic youth, Wahlberg spoke about the depth of his conversion and how it has affected his movie career.

"I just always hope that God is a movie fan and also forgiving, because I've made some poor choices in my past," Wahlberg said, according to the Chicago Tribune.

It's the only decent movie this idiot made. All anyone needs to see is Daddy's Home to know that.

Is that the one with the teddy bear?  Hard pass.

I was highly entertained by "Boogie Nights."

I forgot about Ted. If he is worried about dirty content, Ted is the filthiest movie ever.

My husband and I both like "Invincible" and "Italian Job."

FWIW........
Character still matters.  It always matters.

Whalberg is a pretty good actor, especially for a former boy band star. He has taken on some bad roles, yea, but he does really well in drama roles.

Lol, it's pretty virulent, and I could tell just from the trailer.

We both really like feel-good sports movies, especially based on true stories, so Invincible meets all our criteria for good Friday night dinner and a movie standards.  ^-^

I think Wahlberg is a pretty good actor, as is his brother, Donnie, who was great in Band of Brothers.

We have Band of Brothers on DVD here and we haven't watched it.  Isn't that ridiculous?

I agree, both of them are good.  I don't think I'll ever get tired of seeing Mark's character, Vince Papale, go in for that touchdown.  You actually feel what it would be like to be just a guy off the street, scoring in the NFL.

Same here! And I'm sentimental, so I get tears in my eyes every time I watch it. I also love what his achievement did for the people of. Philly.

And about Band of Brothers..... WATCH IT!!! Ten or eleven times! It's just amazing!!

I would have enjoyed "Patriots Day" a lot more if Wahlberg's character - and every single person in the entire film - didn't drop f-bombs every other word. It became tiresome and was unnecessary, even distracting. We wanted to see the movie because the year of the bombing was the one time in many years Mr. M hadn't run the marathon and I wasn't there in my usual spot just a couple blocks from the explosions to watch him near the finish line.

I’m not sure what he’s asking forgiveness over.  Everyone’s life in the movie went downhill from their association with the biz.   It’s not like the film was a ringing endorsement of the adult film industry.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.
