This is the first competitive general election of the four major cities along the Erie Canal in many years.

It seems to be all but certain that voters in one of the most competitive races in the state will set an historical milestone when they elect a new mayor in November. Which milestone that will be, however, has yet to be determined.

Democrat Juanita Perez Williams received the support of 35 percent of likely voters in the poll, while Ben Walsh, who’s running on the Independence and Reform lines, was at 28 percent. The rest of the field (…) all registered in the single digits.

Well, it's one way to get the cities to vote for a non-Democrat.

By the way, Ben Walsh, the non-Democrat, won.

Good.  I think he has energy and intelligent ideas, not the same tired old garbage.
