Roger Waters tour goes on as film targets him for Palestine advocacy
A documentary accusing the veteran rock star of anti-Semitism is part of a smear campaign discrediting the BDS movement, say activists

VANCOUVER, Canada - Roger Waters is no stranger to controversy. The founder member of Pink Floyd is an outspoken advocate for Palestinian rights and the BDS movement, but his current on Us + Them  tour has been met by opposition from pro-Israel groups and a new documentary targeting his views on Israel.

A series of film screenings of Wish You Weren’t Here, a documentary by Ian Halperin that accuses Waters of anti-Semitism, is scheduled in cities across Canada in October. The screenings, sponsored by Jewish advocacy group B’nai Brith Canada, are timed to coincide with Waters’ own tour across the country.

Waters comes across as cranky, I'd like to be a fan of his because of some very good music by Pink Floyd; but I can't. Middle East Eye definitely leans left and sympathetic to the Palestinians as contrasted to their attitude about Israel. Middle East Eye is a bit of an offshoot of the Guardian UK; but they still report on a lot of things, one would not normally see and often have good journalism.

We either shut off our ears to politics and just enjoy the music, or change the music genre we listen to, where the musicians and singers are all dead.  - because even country is not immune to left wing politics.

Waters went off on George W Bush between songs in a concert filmed for a documentary I saw. Did I smash my Pink Flyod CDs or erase my play list? Nope. Now I did lose my cool on the Dixie Chicks and used two of their CDs as targets on the range, but this many years later I'll not turn the station when one of their songs come on.

He seems to be a typical Brit leftwinger; that Labour Party over there, has been accused of "anti-semitism"; or maybe I should say some of it's members have including the man who ran for Prime Minister Jeremy Corbyn.  I think too, they stand pretty much for straightaway socialism.

But it's not going to take away from my enjoyment of "Dark Side of The Moon", an enduring classic and it's hard to associate the Roger Waters of today with that band with 3 other members, who recorded that album back in the 1970s.

It's good people get passionate about a cause but....
