Melania Trump digs into White House garden
By Brandon Carter - 09/22/17 03:01 PM EDT

First lady Melania Trump held her first event Friday in the White House vegetable garden established by her predecessor Michelle Obama.

Trump was joined by members of the local Boys & Girls club, according to White House pool reports, and chatted with them about the importance of healthy eating. She also asked the children about their favorite foods and stressed the importances of eating lots of vegetables and fruits.

“Take care of yourself,” Trump told the children.

The first lady was seen harvesting red peppers, okra and green peppers with the children, and helping three of them plant broccoli.

Ok, so who will be first to criticize Mrs. Trump's attire today?

These are photo ops, so you aren't going to see her look dirty.

However, my mother could spend hours working the garden and look fresh as a daisy.  I, on the other hand, looked like a coal miner after a day's work.

@Applewood

I think she looks great.  I know she probably hasn't spent any more time working gardens than Michelle, but somehow she doesn't look as absurd.  Maybe it's because she looks like she's really getting into it with the kids.

I love flannel shirts, but they tend to be in style for a season, then they're out again.  Wish they could be around all the time.  Some years, I've actually bought flannel shirts in the men's department when the women's departments didn't have them.

My husband wore an LL Bean red and black flannel jacket for, probably 30 years.  Their stuff is meant to last!

Melania is just too damned nice for her own good. I'd much rather seen her photoed plowing that shit under.   Oh well.

I'm guessing no one else is paying $1300 for their plaid shirt like I read elsewhere Melania's cost?  Haha, can you imagine paying $1300 for a shirt, much less possibly getting dirt from the garden on it?

No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Even if I had Melania's money, I wouldn't spend even $100 for a flannel shirt.
