I would much rather things be done in a clandestine way so we can avoid war if all possible. Pay off generals, incite a revolution, drop a bit of ebola in his Cheerios. The usual stuff.
You don't antagonize the psychotic serial killer down the road into killing someone again just so you have an excuse to then deal with him.

I was pretty much against all the wars we'd fought since WW2, however a nuclear armed NK will have to be dealt with at some point in time. Better now then when millions of Americans are dead and dozens of US cities are smoldering ruins.
I would prefer to have China deal with NK. NK is their problem child, I just hope Trump is making sure China knows we will hold them accountable for any actions NK takes.
