Ah, yes .... the Christ-like compassion for the suffering by conservatives is again on full display.  Let's reduce the debt on the backs of our wounded.

Still wondering why conservatives can't get elected national dog catcher?

That makes absolutely no sense.

I voted for Bush too, my reasons were Al Gore and John Kerry. But Bush blew up the national debt, brought chaos to the middle east/north Africa and allowed tens of million illegal aliens to invade. It might have been a mistake to vote Bush.

On this we agree.  And, the same rationale applies to what Trump is doing right now.

When's the last time a Republican president thought he was going to get better deals with a bunch of Marxist Democrats then some squishy Pubbies?

Now, I have aligncare on ignore for obvious reasons, but I could see his post in your response to him.

Shaking my head.

Let me summarize the stupidity: Republicans haven't represented conservative values since the Republican Revolution since 1994, so Trump is absosmurfly right to side with Democrats now.

It's really hard to take these Trumpettes seriously, isn't it. Glad I have that kind of ignorance on ignore because - frankly - I couldn't stomach seeing it regularly.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

The reality is that the measure needed 60 votes to pass. All the Dems had to do to defeat it was to refuse to vote for it. They didn't even need the usual turncoats on their side to beat this one. It will be presented by the MSM as a measure to (solely, unless the Dems are bragging) fund hurricane relief, and little else. Which means no one from affected areas dares to vote against it or it will be used against them next election.

For all that multidimensional chess stuff, the GOP got painted into a tight corner on this one.

And now: Florida. I wonder what that will cost in Congress.  *****rollingeyes*****

Thanks to George W Bush we lost our chance to manage our way out of debt. But all these NeverTrumpers now screaming debt, debt, debt were big fans of W. "The Debt" is just another GOP scam like ACA repeal, as soon as they are in a position to do something about it they go on a spending spree.
Actually, the first time I walked out of a District meeting was when I arrived and was TOLD (as were all present) that W was going to be the candidate. Done. no vote, no discussion, no caucus, no nothing, eat your peas.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Some of this response from conservatives is overwrought. This may not signal any major ideological shift (indeed, the nominees for circuit courts are rock-solid) so maybe everyone should conserve their ammunition for a little later when the context of the entire first term starts to take shape.

It is interesting that every time the anti-Trumpsters start high-fiving each other about "being right all along" Trump does something else conservative-leaning that shuts them up.

Also, re: point 56....what ""meaningful"" legislation has been passed in his first 100 days that is good for America?  And remember.... quantity is NOT quality.

Other than political appointments, and a scant few other items, I don't see much critical or meaningful legislation signed on this list.  Stuff that relates to tax reform, national debt, illegal immigration, national security, etc.  I see a LOT of minor issue bills signed.  If you're aware of some major legislation he has signed, please elaborate.

Actually, what is being decried the most here is that the D@mned Democrats would hold Hurricane Relief hostage for loading the bill up with other crap.
Trump was going to need some of their votes, anyway, so he was going to have to deal with them, and the GOP would have been seen as standing in the way of helping people in need (an optic the Dems and MSM would love) if they hadn't voted for it, at least enough to pass it. Even with unanimity on the GOP side, the bill would not pass without some Dems. They just held out for their feedlot full of piggies, including the debt ceiling raise.

All very nice stuff, some driven by market optimism. I particularly liked stripping the EPA of some of the myriad new rules stuffed through in the closing days of the Obama Administration, reversed by CRA bills from Congress, which President Trump signed.

But the list of things that were promised is here: http://www.gopbriefingroom.com/index.php/topic,233460.0.html

Wall. Hillary in handcuffs. Repeal Obamacare. Still waiting......

Thanks, I haven't been. I just like to see a little focus on the issues that were the biggies in November.

Don't look now, but it's already taken shape.

What would those things be? And don't spout that silly list a little uphill from this post, because it;s largely bullcrap.

*NOTHING* of import. *nothing* game-changing.

Not that your mind is small by any means sieur, but your own (and other's) gleeful gloom is overwrought. Purely.

What most concerns me about this administration is not anything that has happened so far, but about this idiotic nonsense about huge tariffs and other such Wilsonian stupidity that DJT still seems to have some fetish for espousing. If he doesn't back off on that crap, I will be among those howling the loudest for someone to run against him if he tries for a second term.

Just so long as it is not a trade war with nations that should ostensibly be our allies in every sense, including economically.

Well, not a thermonuclear war...that could cause a lot of cramping, itching and discomfort for everyone.

Whatever level it goes to, it'll have to last through the primaries and to the general...Most models for thermonuclear conflict have a more limited duration of hostilities.

I am mostly out of the markets at this point, having liquidated much of what I held. Most of the reserves value will depend on commodity prices. Maybe not the best situation, but it is what it is.

Heh... Glad you have it to liquidate. The only liquid I have is a pot to piss in :)
We'll see. If we make it through fall, it will probably wrap around again... maybe till the midterms. If it lasts that long I'll be up in the sticks. But it's coming. Sure as God made little green apples.

If you look at a 20 year chart of the S&P500, the dotcom/housing boom/busts are obvious.  Run up to 1500, run back down to 750 or so.  Repeat.  It's like a letter M (but kind of stretched out, like the Univ Minn logo).

If the market crashed by 38%, we'd be back down to the PEAK of those two bubbles.

It's going to look so obvious in hindsight.
