Detroit Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera was involved in a fight and ejected during Thursday's game against the New York Yankees at Comerica Park.

[...]

As Cabrera walked back to the plate, he and Yankees catcher Austin Romine, the brother of Tigers utility-man Andrew Romine, began jawing at each other. Cabrera then pushed Austin Romine and threw a punch, sparking a scuffle and prompting both benches to clear.

Tigers starter Michael Fulmer had hit Gary Sanchez with a pitch in the fifth inning, after Sanchez hit a solo home run off him in the fourth inning. Sanchez has hit a home run in each game of the series against the Tigers.

Yankees manager Joe Girardi appeared to be angry about Kahnle being tossed without a warning and argued the ejection before he was also ejected.

[...]

But Cabrera was apparently still heated by what had transpired. Cabrera barked at Romine and seconds later the two were on the ground with a mass of bodies around them.

[...]

Betances was warned and then he became upset, given that it was a tie game. Betances and Yankees bench coach Rob Thompson were then ejected for arguing with the umpires.

Tigers relieiver [sic] Alex Wilson was immediately ejected after hitting Clint Frazier in the thigh with a pitch in the top of the eighth. That brought both benches out again. It was the first career ejection for Wilson.

Ausmus was also ejected for the Tigers his 14th as a manager and fourth this season.

“the immortal” Chico Escuela, a former all-star baseball player for the Chicago Cubs who came to the US from the Dominican Republic in a thick Hispanic accent had this to say about Miguel Cabrera

“Thank you berry much. Baseball been berry, berry good to me. Thank you. God bless you. Gracias!”
