Colin Kaepernick: History's Hero?
Townhall, Aug 18, 2017, Brent Bozell

The National Football League's preseason is underway, and national anthem-hating quarterback Colin Kaepernick still doesn't have an NFL job. One can easily identify the liberal journalists by their anguish over this so-called injustice. You can also identify them by their dishonest arguments.

Washington Post sports columnist Jerry Brewer pulled out a very large straw man on Aug. 17 in a column headlined "Days of Docile Black Athlete Have Ended. Get Used to It." He doubled down in the text, saying: "Sorry for the inconvenience, sports fans, but the days of the docile black athlete are over. This isn't a time to stick to sports. This isn't a time to be afraid because Kaepernick has been blackballed." To argue that Kaepernick's critics want "docile blacks" is character assassination.

Then, Brewer added that the national anthem lasts about two minutes, as does an interview after the game about that anti-American kneeling stunt. He spewed: "If you think that's too much of a distraction from sports -- the ultimate distraction -- you're living an awfully petty life. I'm sorry you didn't get to put extra sprinkles on your ice cream, but there are more important matters."

A simple lesson given as a teenager would have stopped all this horse manure.

When you sign a contract with a team/league, and you put on that uniform, you cannot do anything that brings shame or undue/negative publicity to same.

Don't become a 'Legend in your own mind', just because you can't go to the corner 7-11 without somebody asking for pic/autograph.

Put a bumper sticker on your Range Rover in protest.

Table: Top 10 team values

Team   League   Value
1. Dallas Cowboys   NFL   $4.20 billion
2. New York Yankees   MLB   $3.70 billion
3. Manchester United   Premier   $3.69 billion
4. FC Barcelona   La Liga   $3.64 billion
5. Real Madrid   La Liga   $3.58 billion
6. New England Patriots   NFL   $3.40 billion
7. New York Knicks   NBA   $3.30 billion
8. New York Giants   NFL   $3.10 billion
9. Los Angeles Lakers   NBA   $3.00 billion
10. San Francisco 49ers   NFL   $3.00 billion

So, Jerry Jones says that anybody who doesn't stand up, with respect for the National Anthem, will not be on the team.

I want Mr. Kaepernick to realize that his 'measly' $3-$5 Million annual salary pales in a $4.2 BILLION organiztion/business empire.

You sign a contract, you lose the right to express any public opinion that places the Dallas Cowboys organization, the team, the logo, the brand in a negative light.

CANNOT have that.

You feel the need to protest, do it in a club some night, or do it on your own time....on your own property.

He's not...yet.

Just wanted to revive the debate a bit, since it's on all the sports talk-radio shows now.    ^-^

The leftist-tinged SJWs masquerading as sportswriters really want the public to believe that an athlete making 19 million dollars a year is being exploited.
I read one pro-Kaepernick article this morning where the writer corrected people who thought Kaepernick was making 19 million dollars a year. He said that was with performance bonuses.
And since Kaepernick didn't reach all his performance goals, the poor guy made "only" about ten million dollars last year. Excuse me while I sob for poor Colin...having to live on just ten million dollars.
The bigger problem with Kaepernick and the people who believe he and black Americans are still victims is that most people who are not black Americans don't believe they, black Americans, are victims. They don't believe blacks are being oppressed by racist whites. They believe most blacks, like most other people including whites, are exactly where they should be considering 99% of Americans are responsible for the circumstances they find themselves in...good or bad.
