My older brother used to work for the VA.  One time during a break he was talking with a fellow worker who was black. The guy was ranting that no white person ever did anything for a black person.
My brother told the guy that Abraham Lincoln freed the slaves.
The guy responded, "who was Abraham Lincoln?"
