On Tuesday, with respect to tearing down Confederate monuments, President Trump bravely stood before the world and asked, "Where does it end?" The media responded by ridiculing the notion that such a thing could get out of hand. And now we have vigilante protesters starting to dig up the remains of Confederate Lt. General Nathan Bedford Forrest:

A group of protesters who want the body of an alleged Ku Klux Klan leader removed from their city have broken the soil over the grave.

The campaigners claim it has taken officials in Memphis, Tennessee, too long to exhume Nathan Bedford Forrest - who was a lieutenant general in the Confederate States Army. ...

Members of the protest group, who call themselves the Commission on Religion and Racism, removed only a small patch of grass from the park, but threatened to return with heavy machinery to tear down the wartime symbol.

Desecrating a grave site is a crime.    Were there no arrests?

Dig up remains of confederate general:

Yesterday, Bob and I talked about the next thing to do would be digging up the bodies of confederate soldiers or any others in our history.  Reminds me of Hitler and Stalin and Isis destroying history, including bodies and historical religious edifices of all kinds.  People doing this here are no different than Hitler/Stalin/Isis.

When I went to Normandy and visited the American Cemetery,  I was surprised to learn that nearby was a very nice cemetery for the German soldiers who fell there.

And that's why Europe has been relatively peaceful since then.

Respecting the vanquished keeps the next war from happening.  But obviously, there are those who are just itching for that fight.

People doing this could use a round of 'pick handle discussion' about desecrating graves. They aren't "vigilantes", they're ghouls.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

Lincoln understood this. Too bad we've grown so stupid in the intervening 150 years.

It isn't stupidity. Sorry, but I wish it was.

While stupidity may swell the ranks of those seeking to impose totalitarian rule on these United States, it isn't the driving force.

That, instead, is the result of diverse efforts channeled together by funding which commonly traces back to a handful of sources at most for the purposes of fomenting mayhem in our streets. Those forces have been working toward this end since before the New Left hijacked the old Democrat Party (which would never have desecrated Confederate memorials, graves, or symbols). Their entire raison d'etre has been to push Marxism in the schools, at first to hamper the efforts of the US during the Cold War, and now, to create yet another failed Socialist utopia (because they have all failed). We saw with the Weathermen (yes, that 'quaint' terrorist outfit Bill Ayres and Bernadette Dohrn belonged to) the 'logic' that there would be blood in the streets from which their Communist 'people's republic' would arise, and that the (then) 25,000,000 or so Americans who could not be reeducated would have to be eliminated.
Since then, Marxists have made serious inroads into the political system and the Universities  and media where they daily filter the information given to the public, shaping worldviews and philosophies on an individual basis, en masse. We are the 'eggs' they want to break to make their omelette, as are the monuments to our history.

When it comes, and it assuredly will, we will all be told the totalitarian edicts will be for our own protection, the sacrifice of our Liberty will be for our own security, the loss of our rights will purchase safety, and nothing will be farther from the truth.

These "folks" certainly are behaving like they do want "a war", don't they?

The "levels of incitement" by the leftists and antifadas are being pushed higher and higher.

Those of the right, including those lowlies of the "alt-right", have been acting with restraint for a long time now.

But sumthin' tells me this "restraint" isn't going to last forever...

Reagan understood this too, when he went to Bitburg.....(remember how the Heads exploded for that one)

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

Good catch. Why are we digging up 2 year old articles to raise all our blood pressures?

Right now, I am most disappointed at SCV.  This is a 98,000 member organization whose sole purpose is to protect against what we have seen this past week.  All we have gotten thus far is mostly rhetoric distancing themselves from KKK.  While that is good, I see no other actions to fight this bull shit.

Well stated, sir.   The current hysteria is difficult to comprehend, other than as a deliberate attempt by political cynics to upend the peaceable community.

Excellent article I found about when Reagan went to Bitburg, and how the other GOP members didn't shy away from him, even though I'm sure some had their misgivings.
