GOP fears damage to brand from Charlottesville
By Ben Kamisar - 08/17/17 06:00 AM EDT

Republicans worry that their candidates could pay in the 2018 midterms for the continued controversy over President Trump’s remarks on the fatal violence in Charlottesville, Va.

Trump’s equivocation on how much blame should be put on white supremacist groups for the violence sets up a challenge that’s difficult for Republican candidates to avoid — and one that Democrats are eager to bring up.

Republican campaign chiefs raced to distance themselves from Trump’s decision not to single out white supremacists for condemnation, acutely aware of the potential damage the comments could have on the party's 2018 prospects.

Democrats should be fearing damage to their brand from both Antifa and the KKK.  That is if Republicans had any balls.  Trump has the balls, but he isn't capable of putting up a good argument against them.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-

"The [U.S.] Constitution is a limitation on the government, not on private individuals ... it does not prescribe the conduct of private individuals, only the conduct of the government ... it is not a charter for government power, but a charter of the citizen's protection against the government."

Someone ought to break it to the GOP that their brand was irreparably damaged when it became clear they lied for seven years about repealing Obamacare.  That ship has already sailed.

Slapping a big TRUMP tramp stamp across its lower back only made it final.

^^^^^  THIS.

That and they are always more worried about what Democrats say about them than pissing off the Conservatives that used to make up their base.
Fart for freedom, fart for liberty and fart proudly.  - Benjamin Franklin

...Obsta principiis—Nip the shoots of arbitrary power in the bud, is the only maxim which can ever preserve the liberties of any people. When the people give way, their deceivers, betrayers and destroyers press upon them so fast that there is no resisting afterwards. The nature of the encroachment upon [the] American constitution is such, as to grow every day more and more encroaching. Like a cancer, it eats faster and faster every hour." - John Adams, February 6, 1775

What a tangled web they weave when first they practice to stick their thumbs in their butts.

Has it occurred to anyone to pick up where Trump left off in explaining a position of opposing all violent extremes?

And this is what the GOP is reduced to. They are more scared of screeching banshees than the people who elected them. And they're only scared because they don't want to lose their perks.
The Republic is lost.
