And he came to the bench with a deep seeded hatred for the Catholic Church...he's the one behind the whole "wall of seperation" crap that stains the 1s Amendment today.  Jefferson may have made a casual reference to a wall in a letter to the danbury baptists...but Black siezed upon it and used it to restrict religious freedom.
