Confederate statues in Baltimore removed overnight
Fox5/DC; Aug 16, 2017

BALTIMORE - Contractors in Baltimore have removed several of the city's Confederate statues overnight.

The Robert E. Lee and “Stonewall” Jackson monument in Wyman Park Dell was removed early Wednesday morning.

The Confederate Women's Monument on West University Parkway was removed overnight as was the Roger Taney Monument from Mount Vernon Place. Taney was a Supreme Court justice who ruled African-Americans could not be considered citizens of the U.S.

It is unclear if and when the city’s remaining Confederate statue - the Confederate Soldiers and Sailors Monument on Mount Royal Avenue - is scheduled for removal.

A commission appointed by former Baltimore Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake recommended removing two of four Confederate-era monuments in 2015. On Monday, Baltimore's City Council made the decision to remove them.

Current Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh said she wanted the statues to be placed in Confederate cemeteries elsewhere in Maryland.

In an effort to prevent the kind violence seen in Virginia on Saturday when white nationalists came to Charlottesville to protest the removal of a statue of Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee, Pugh did not announce when the statues would be removed.

On Tuesday, Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan has called for the removal of a statue of Justice Roger B. Taney from the grounds of the State House.

Fox is reporting that the Baltimore Town Council has decided to destroy the statues rather than move them to Confederate cemeteries.

Great. I'm sure Baltimore will become a wonderful place to live because of this.

Baltimore removes Confederate monuments overnight
« Reply #8 on: August 16, 2017, 01:53:57 pm »
By Maria Stainer - The Washington Times - Wednesday, August 16, 2017

Workers in Baltimore removed four of the city’s Confederate monuments in the early hours on Wednesday, days after many residents took to the streets to protest a white nationalist rally in Virginia that left three dead and many injured.

Baltimore Mayor Catherine Pugh said Tuesday the monuments should come down, telling WBAL “let’s get it done,” but she didn’t want to say when.

The Baltimore City Council unanimously passed a resolution Monday to remove the monuments, WTOP reported.

“They [council members] could have started this back in August of last year, but of course nothing got done,” Ms. Pugh told WBAL. “So, here I am, you know, I will get it done, and I have already asked contractors to look at how quickly we can move them and at what cost we would have to remove them at and I have even asked for donations and volunteers if they want to help us in that process.”

This is only the beginning.  The momentum is with the left, and those cousin-marrying white supremacist rejects are doing a fine job of helping them along.

There are already demands that the New York Museum take down the statue of racist Theodore Roosevelt.  It won't be long before the focus shifts to those slave-owning Founders.

The momentum is with the left because no one wants to be called a racist. Which is what happens to anyone who stands in their way.

Guess they'll have to change "Mayflower" too, since those were associated with the Pilgrims, who massacred those poor innocent Native Americans.

The momentum is only with the left right now because nobody on the right is, thus far, standing UP to them.  Just wait...

Utter nonsense.

Those "cousin-marrying white supremacist rejects" are -- so far -- the only ones willing to actually go out, assemble and publicly protest the left's agenda. Remember that the theme of the alt-right's assembly in Charlottesville was to defend the existence of the Civil War monument there.

Even so-called "respectable Republicans" in a position to speak out against the antifada are cowering and running.

The left is trying to force the issue into overdrive -- and they seem to be doing a pretty good job at it.
If this attempt to erase existing history and replace it with a leftist-rewritten version isn't stopped, they will certainly win.

And the "mainstream Republican" factions are proving that they're as ineffective in opposing such a putsch as are the "mainstream parties" of Western Europe are in trying to oppose the islamic invasion that's going on there. They hide behind carefully composed weasel words that tumble from their mealy mouths.

It's like Florence Reece, the wife of a union organizer for coal miners, wrote 'way back in 1931:
They say in Harlan County
There are no neutrals there
You'll either be a union man
Or a thug for J.H. Blair
Which side are you on?
Which side are you on?

When it comes down to this struggle, and I'm forced to choose, I know which side I'm on.

Do you?

There was talk of moving them to Confederate cemeteries.  But, that plan was thrown out.  As of this morning, the decision was to destroy the statues.

This will not end on its own. It will have to be stopped.

Allowing this ridiculousness makes stopping it that much more difficult.

Oh boy.  That would be bloodshed.
