Left-Wing...Right-Wing...They're All Socialists!

There's a lot of "left-wing" vs. "right-wing" allegations being thrown around, especially after the latest violence in Charlottesville. We're told that "leftist" Communist groups are pitted against "far-right" Nazi groups.

That may well be the case, but it's important to realize that they're all Socialists!

The whole left/right stuff can be dropped. They're just different brands of Socialism.

It must be remembered that the U.S.S.R. stood for Union of Soviet *Socialist* Republics.

Meanwhile, NAZI stood for National *Socialism.*.....

During WWII, the Soviets never used the term 'Nazi' to describe the Germans,    they used 'Fascist', although only the Italians were technically Fascists, and there were big differences between Italian Fascism and German Nazism.


The reason?    By calling them "Nazis" or "National Socialists",  it would have been admitting that they were fellow Socialists.

Franco, while using them, was not a falangist.  Franco was more than happy to accept military aid from any sources, including Hitler, but he refused to be used by them.
In the end, Franco was just another military strong man who, while hating communism,  didn't much care for any political philosophy and revered the old order.

Thank God, Franco won the Civil War.  Odds are if the Republicans had won, the Nazis would have invaded.  Franco paid just enough lip service to Hitler to keep Hitler off his back.

Franco also refused to give much military aid to Hitler....which cheesed Adolf off mightily. He did allow Axis ships to dock in Spanish ports and allowed volunteers to fight against the Soviet Union.
But as the war progressed badly for the Axis powers, Franco decided to maintain a more neutral stance. He refused to hand Jews over to the Nazis.  Not your ideal dictator, but not nearly on the level of Hitler or Stalin.
And yes, he did prevent Spain from going communist.
