Trump: Maybe threat on North Korea wasn't 'tough enough'

 By Jordan Fabian and Max Greenwood  - 08/10/17 02:54 PM EDT

President Trump on Thursday ramped up his war of words against North Korea over its nuclear program, saying his warning of “fire and fury” against the rogue nation “may not be tough enough.”

Even as he underlined his Tuesday statement aimed at North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, Trump sought to reassure anxious Americans that he has the situation under control and downplayed the notion that his administration is sending mixed messages about its response.

“Frankly, the people who were questioning that statement, was it too tough? Maybe it wasn’t tough enough,” he told reporters at his New Jersey golf club. “They’ve been doing this to our country for a long time, for many years, and it’s about time that somebody stuck up for the people of this country and for the people of other countries.”

Trump said that if Pyongyang attacks the U.S. or one of its allies, “things will happen to them like they never thought possible” and that should make North Korean leadership “very nervous.”

A short time ago, a man who was a US Senator, from Vermont I think it was, is now an Independent and wants the Trump cabinet to require him to have a mental competency evaluation. He says he has talked to some in congress about that.  Let's see if that makes national news channels.

@txradioguy

There is a CNN news guy who is in Korea and he just gave out another communication from N. Korea.  He says it takes about 24 hrs. for N. Korea to come up with another announcement due to so many having to approve it there, so the one he just gave out was their answer to Trump's speaking before this one today.  We won't know what they say to this present one until tomorrow.

I am remembering what happened at Pearl Harbor - how our guys in Washington were behind the times of communication from Japan, and an attack happened with our people in Hawaii unprepared.

N. Korea and our people should be talking real time - not in this long time between one talking and another answering 12-24 hrs. later.  For heaven's sake, we have real time communication now - what do they, us and them, not understand about that?

The basic nature of how closed off from the modern world the Norks are it's almost impossible for them to do anything in less than 24 hours.

They're using long division and an abacus to calculate the trajectory for the Hwaseongs to Guam.

Here's hoping they put the decimal point in the wrong place.

That, and a 13 hour time difference.

If Trump says something at 11:00 AM, it's midnight in Korea.

And Kim Jong-Eun's staff aren't going to wake him up from his beauty sleep.  At least, not more than once before they get shipped off to a death camp.
