North Korea seriously considering strike on Guam: Reports, citing state media
13 Mins AgoReuters

North Korea said on Wednesday it is "carefully examining" a plan to strike the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam with missiles, just hours after U.S. President Donald Trump told the North that any threat to the United States would be met with "fire and fury".

A spokesman for the Korean People's Army, in a statement carried by the North's state-run KCNA news agency, said the strike plan will be "put into practice in a multi-current and consecutive way any moment" once leader Kim Jong Un makes a decision.

In another statement citing a different military spokesman, North Korea also said it could carry out a pre-emptive operation if the United States showed signs of provocation.

If their response to Trump's statement is to consider striking Guam, their capabilities are not as great as they claim and we've heard.
I disagree.  Circle gets the square.

The subs home ported in Guam, USS Chicago (SSN-721), USS Key West (SSN-722), USS Oklahoma City (SSN-723), and USS Topeka (SSN-754) will more than devastate North Korea if they strike first.

Unless the job goes to Andersen.

Man I love a BUFF.  How fitting for it to finally do the job it was built for over 60 years ago.

@edpc

No, it means they are striking the closest American target away from their area.
I saw Hawaii is taking precautions.  It would take only 20 minutes for a nuke to go from N. Korea to there.

There are more than a dozen US bases in SK and a couple more in Okinawa.  All closer.

So while Trump is trying to out-crazy Kim Jong-un, North Korea has made the next move . . .

. . . And this is what happens when you put someone in charge of your nation, simply because
he’s an “outsider” and you saw him on a reality TV show.

It’s the equivalent of getting an auto mechanic to perform your kid’s open heart surgery . . .

. . . It’s unclear at this moment whether Trump received clearance to make the kind of threat
he’d made earlier in the day . . . While North Korea needs to be dealt with firmly, that was a
volatile statement, and it only served to put a lot of people on edge.

Quote
U.S. Defense Secretary Jim Mattis has warned of an
“effective and overwhelming” response against North Korea
if it chose to use nuclear weapons but has said any military
solution would be “tragic on an unbelievable scale.”

That is a carefully worded statement, taking into account the sensitive and serious nature
of the problem.

Trump is neither a leader nor a diplomat, and words matter.

The President put the military option back on the table that Zero had removed.

Why would they nuke South Korea?

They plan to reunify their country... and it's hard to do with a radioactive husk (whose fallout keeps landing in your capitol).

Clinton, Bush and Obama also are guilty of dereliction of duty with their relations with North Korea so then, it's up to Trump to clean up their manure.

The President put the military option back on the table that Zero had removed.

Except he removed it as well, for a time, back in May.

National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster joined ABC News' Martha Raddatz from Kabul for an exclusive interview about North Korea on Sunday's edition of "This Week" on ABC. He said the current situation in North Korea "can not continue," saying: "It's time for us to undertake all actions we can, short of a military option, to try to resolve this peacefully."

President Donald Trump has a four-point policy plan in place for dealing with North Korea that does not include a military option, a South Korean lawmaker is quoted as saying Thursday.

South Korean politicians Thursday met with Joseph Yun, the US State Department official responsible for policy on North Korea.

Yun briefed lawmakers on the Trump administration's approach toward Pyongyang, according to the Korean news agency Yonhap.

He told lawmakers that Trump signed a comprehensive State Department policy report that called for exerting 'every possible pressure' diplomatically on Pyongyang.

The report calls for four main strategies - not recognizing North Korea as a nuclear state, imposing every possible sanction and pressure, not seeking a regime change and resolving the problem with dialogue in the end.

I said they chose Guam because it was out of their area, away from NK and SK, plus our bombers from Guam were flying close to N. Korea.  Those two reasons are why they chose Guam as their target.

They don't plan to reunify, they plan to conquer.  And I'm sure it hasn't escaped notice that both Hiroshima and Nagasaki are habitable and inhabited.

Nuking Seoul would be a small price to pay.

Trump’s North Korea Threat Is Eerily Similar To Harry Truman’s Hiroshima Bombing Announcement In 1945
By Greg Price On 8/8/17 at 5:51 PM

President Donald Trump gave his most direct and poignant warning toward North Korea and Kim Jon Un’s regime Tuesday amid the authoritarian government’s ongoing missile and nuclear tests and its equally ominous rhetoric.

And Trump’s words, while they did not mention a specific type of attack or a nuclear bomb, did appear eerily similar to the phrasing used by former President Harry Truman after he announced to the country and the world that the U.S. had dropped an atomic bomb on Japan’s Hiroshima army base in August 1945.

“North Korea best not make any more threats to the United States,” Trump told reporters at his golf club in Bedminster, New Jersey. “They will be met with fire and fury like the world has never seen. He has been very threatening beyond a normal state and as I said they will be met with fire and fury and frankly power the likes of which this world has never seen before.”

The two Koreas still consider the other family.  While the north would love to bring south Korea in they don't wish to conquer in the sense of an all out war.
