An RD Came Out Against Veganism—and Twitter Was Not Pleased

After a nutrition professor spoke her mind on live TV, a tweetstorm raged on social media. We asked nutritionists for their take on the animal product vs. plant-based diet debate.

People who eat meat and those who don't often argue about which diet is healthier. So it wasn't exactly a surprise this morning when a UK nutrition professor gave veganism a thumbs-down on live television . . . and Twitter hit back hard in response.

I just tell them they're angry and delusional because the lack of Vitamin B12 in their diets is messing with their brain function.

The true sign that something is not true is how angry people get when you challenge their belief.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

"Nutritionist" is not a protected term.  Anyone can claim to be a "nutritionist".  The Registered Dietician was the one who spoke against veganism being easy.

Meh - if it eases your soul, be vegan. Just don't force it on kids or cats

A little lower brain function is worth not having the tortured souls of animals following me around and staring at me with their accusing looks.

I've gotten into on-line arguments with vegans concerning the lack of B12 in vegan diets to wit: if veganism is healthy, why don't vegan diets have a much needed vitamin in them? Why do vegans have to add B12 to their diets in the form of pills?
I  either get no response or some sort of dodging of the question.
Another question I ask is if humans evolved as vegetarians/vegans, why do we have incisors which are used by mammals for ripping and tearing flesh?
Again, many times no response or evasion of the question.
I certainly don't care if people want to go on a vegetarian or vegan diet. That is their personal choice. But just don't try to tell me veganism is natural or that humans (and many other mammals) didn't evolve to be omnivores: meat and vegetables.

Meat is part of a healthy diet but you don't need a lot of it.

Being purely vegetarian means your body may be missing certain key nutrients
I have little interest in streamlining government or in making it more efficient, for I mean to reduce its size. I do not undertake to promote welfare, for I propose to extend freedom. My aim is not to pass laws, but to repeal them.
