‘Fact-Checker’ Snopes Is Begging Readers For Cash

The fact-checking blog Snopes is appealing to readers for $10 donations to save it from an outside vendor that’s allegedly holding the website and its ad revenues “hostage.”

“As misinformation has increasingly threatened democracies around the world (including our own), Snopes.com has stood in the forefront of fighting for truth and dispelling misinformation online,” Snopes staff wrote on a special web page setup to fundraise for the failing fact-check site.

Hope it starves, everyone of us here knows a story they have slanted.. Off the top of my head, the fact the democratic convention didn't have flags on stage the first day and they tried to swing it like they did. Even posting a picture from day two and claiming it was day one.

Proper Media’s lawsuit states that Mikkelson spent “tens of thousands of dollars” from Snopes on legal fees for his divorce from his first wife, Barbara.

Mikkelson wanted a salary of $720,000 a year; he is accused of spending “tens of thousands of dollars' on personal trips with his second wife, Elyssa Young.

Young charged $500 an hour as an escort in Las Vegas, according to her website ...

On occasion, Snopes is right.  I was reading some story yesterday that claimed Obama was going to  have a grand mausoleum built in DC for himself and his wife, maybe his kids, at taxpayer expense.  Didn't sound right. so I went to Snopes.  It wasn't true as I suspected.  Seems the story originated from a "real fake news" website (the site acknowledges its "news" is fake).

It is quite often right, but usually with a leftist spin.
And sometimes, they are just plain wrong.

BTW, the Mikkelsons have been libs right on back to the alt.folklore.urban days.

They like to use the label "mixed" for items obviously embarrassing to the left in a manner they'd never use with the shoe on the other foot.

Virtually anything can be spun and Snopes gets around flat lying by presenting the embarrassing item and the corresponding leftist spin immediately following and calling it something other than 'true'.
