Boss of firm behind anti-Trump dossier to plead the Fifth at congressional hearing
Washington Times, Jul 22, 2017, Dan Boylan

The co-founder of the Washington-based firm that commissioned the explosive and largely unsubstantiated anti-Trump campaign research dossier will reject a Senate subpoena to testify before Congress next week and invoke his Fifth Amendment rights, according to the heads of the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Glenn Simpson, the former Wall Street Journal reporter who helped start political intelligence firm Fusion GPS, has been a key figure in the Russian election meddling saga ever since the dossier, which alleged a years-long Kremlin conspiracy to elect Donald Trump and included colorful sex stories, was leaked to the press after the Republican’s November victory over Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Guilty of what?

I agree that this POS is like Lois Lerner-almost certainly guilty of something.

- Falsifying and promoting a phony dossier on Donald Trump
- Working as an unregistered agent for Russia
- Discrediting Planned Parenthood organ sales videos
- Arranging the meeting with the russian lawyer, Veselnitskaya as a set-up of Trump Jr.

Good reason to take the 5th.

None of which are true.

The dossier was produced, on contract, for a Republican primary candidate against Trump... and then solicited for further expansion by Hillary's campaign.  No need to promote the dossier and all the information in it was as accurate as could be determined at the time (with the resources at hand).

The company did business with Russia, like Exxon.  The CEO of the company is not the only one in it, and the company has many contracts with people worldwide (at least, at the time).

The Planned Parenthood videos which you refer were long since debunked as highly edited works that attributed statements that did not occur.  (Much like someone videotaping a long conversation and then splicing one's statements made at the end to questions asked at the beginning.)

And this company had nothing to do with the Trump, Jr meeting.

Unsubstantiated.
And in some parts, complete nonsense. If Simpson has nothing to hide, then there is no reason to take the Fifth. Have his day in court to clear his name.

The PP videos were edited as are almost all videos.   There is plenty of evidence that PP is selling baby parts.

I can't believe people here are defending PP.
Fools mock, tongues wag, babies cry and goats bleat.

He's likely doing so to protect his company's reputation.  If he talks, business will dry up.

No politician will solicit research from a business that goes public.

Sure they would.  If he goes up before Congress and refuses to sacrifice his customer's privacy, he would gain business.

That's called 'taking the 5th'... which is what he did.

I agree, and was trying to explain why he was doing so.
