Flip-flops: Fun in the Sun, but Tough on Feet
Their lack of support dictates short-term use only, podiatrist says

SATURDAY, July 15, 2017 (HealthDay News) -- Americans love flip-flops -- just slip them on, and you're out the door.

But, the unstructured footwear can cause problems, one expert says.

"This time of year I frequently see patients with foot conditions related to wearing flip-flops," Dr. Christina Long, a podiatrist and foot and ankle surgeon at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, said in a center news release.

Flip Flops? Heck when I was a kid we ran around barefoot, we didn't have the luxury of flip flops and our feet were tough, asphalt, concrete, gravel, grass, it made no difference it was all the same to us.

I'm still barefoot every chance I get.

And does anybody really do flip-flops  anymore?
I have what I call 'flops', but they are really sandals. And folks wore mocs for centuries, wholly unstructured, and did alright...

True that.  Mine is split between squishing between the toes and cracks opening up to swallow a foot.

However, ever have that ground crawl up your legs and get inside your shorts?

I happen to think flip-flops are quite convenient. Less hot than a full shoe, and convenient when walking on gravel or other areas too sharp for going barefoot.
