There has been a lot of controversy roiling the Catholic Church lately.

Pope Francis’s alleged liberal leanings were recently questioned by a group of four cardinals in what is known as a dubia (Latin for “doubts’) regarding the Pope’s recent encyclical Amoris Laetitia.

One of those cardinals, Joachim Meisner, was recently relieved of his senior position within the Vatican. Hours after receiving the news of his dismissal, he died in his sleep.

Oops, you guys are right! That was my mistake.

But Francis -should- abdicate. He is more an "anti-Pope" than a real one.

Too bad we can't bring Benedict back!

The wife and I are practicing Catholics and have not been to church in almost a year, all due to the missteps of the current Pope. Even if he steps down, he's appointed enough lib cardinals the next one will not be a winner either.

He doesn't live in the Vatican.

His retirement home: Mater Ecclesiae Monastery inside the Vatican State.  The "state" is a large area of buildings, not connected to the Vatican.

It could be that he has an unadvertised illness, but otherwise, I think it was a political coup.

I still believe Benedict was forced out because he discovered something he shouldn't have.
