McConnell: Senate to try to repeal ObamaCare next week
By Jordain Carney - 07/18/17 06:33 PM EDT

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Republicans will try to move forward with their plan to repeal ObamaCare next week, even as they appear short of the needed votes to pass the proposal.

“For the information of all senators, at the request of the President [Trump] and Vice President [Pence] and after consulting with our members, we will have the vote on the motion to proceed to the ObamaCare repeal bill early next week," McConnell said from the Senate floor on Tuesday night.

The Senate is expected to vote on whether or not to take up the House-passed healthcare bill, which is being used for any action in the upper chamber. If they are successful, McConnell would offer the ObamaCare repeal proposal as an amendment to that legislation.

Of course. So they can throw up their hands and say, "We tried!"

Just like Trump voters. Elect a fake conservative, then claim they "tried" to get conservative measures passed.

We're not fooled.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

I do like the idea of getting them on record. At least we can send campaign contributions to their primary opponents and if they win their primary encourage people not to vote for them.

What does Senator Cotton say? That 18 months ago, 49 Senators voted for basically this same bill to repeal? I think so.

Quote
TC: Well, Hugh, you’re right that the American health care system is still groaning under the weight of Obamacare. That’s why we can’t simply accept failure as an outcome. I am pleased to see that Senator McConnell has said that we’re going to move forward with the very bill to repeal Obamacare on which 49 Republican senators voted just 18 months ago in December of 2015. And I know that both John Kennedy and Luther Strange, two new Republican senators over the last year, would vote for that bill as well, 51 votes.

It's kind of confusing.

Good grief.   All they have to do is pass a Freedom bill that

  • gives people the freedom to opt out of mandatory Obamacare insurance
  • gives insurance companies the freedom to sell policies that are not Obamacare compliant.

That's it.  That's all they need to do.  Just do that, and Obamacare disappears.
If a political party does not have its foundation in the determination to advance a cause that is right and that is moral, then it is not a political party; it is merely a conspiracy to seize power.

-Dwight Eisenhower-
