'Where's the fire? I'll put it out!': Trump revels in the presence of beautiful fire truck at Made In America event where he hits 'really stupid trade' with other countries
Daily Mail/UK, Jul 17, 2017

President Donald Trump made a joke that inadvertently drew a parallel to the White House's continuing woes over the Russian collusion scandal as he celebrated 'Made in America' week on Monday.

Upon seeing a Wisconsin-manufactured fire truck at the event, Trump asked, 'Where's the fire?' then said, 'I'll put it out,' as he reveled in the presence of the beautiful machine made by Pierce Manufacturing.

Plagued by daily revelations related to the escalating Russia investigations, the White House is dubbing this 'Made in America week' as it tries to focus on issues that matter to the president's base.

Trump pushed his 'America First' policy at today's White House showcase and hammered 'really stupid trade' with countries that charge 100 percent tariffs on products manufactured in the United States.

He also promised that Republicans would repeal the 'job-killing' health insurance law known as Obamacare and replace it with something that is 'far, far better.'

For that, he needs Sen. John McCain to return to Washington. The Republican underwent emergency surgery in Phoenix on Friday for a blood clot in his eye and was resting this week in Arizona.

Trump told his audience that he hopes McCain 'gets better very soon' because 'we miss him' - then commented that 'he's a crusty voice in Washington.'

'Plus, we need his vote,' he quipped.

The president was only half-joking. Trump said again that 'we need that vote...and we need a number of votes because we have to repeal Obamacare.'

With Vice President Mike Pence at his side, Trump said 'It's going to happen. Right, Mike?'

Pence, who's been the White House's lead negotiator on Capitol Hill, told him, 'Yes sir.'

Before his remarks, Trump visited a maze of rooms at the White House showcasing American-made products from all 50 states, some of which had been too big to fit inside and were instead displayed on the South Lawn.

'These are nice,' he said of a table of wooden bats produced by Marucci Sports of Louisiana.

He swung the bat around and asked a company representative what the bats were made of - maple, the rep said - and why - it's a stronger wood, Trump was told.

The billionaire resort and golf course owner was also impressed with a set of PING putters.

Ping is 'doing really well,' he said it's 'market share is growing all the time.'

Well this is a refreshing event at the WH. A lot better than putting up Mao Christmas ornaments on the tree.
