Quote
When the Classic West and East, two two-day concerts in Los Angeles and New York headlined by the Eagles and Fleetwood Mac, were announced earlier this year, comparisons to last year’s wildly successful Desert Trip were immediate and inevitable. Like that once in a lifetime bill bringing together six iconic acts of one era, Classic West and East featured six bands from one era, in this case the ‘70s, joining together for a special bill.

That is really where the comparisons end though. Unlike Desert Trip, which was much more about the event, night one of Classic West, held at Dodger Stadium last night (July 15), was all about the headliner, the Eagles, in their first full-scale performance since the death of Glenn Frey in January of 2016.

Featuring Vince Gill.... :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly: :silly:

What a joke.  If Joe Walsh had any cajones he's flip 'em off and head home.

I display the Confederate Battle Flag in honor of my great great great grandfathers who spilled blood at Wilson's Creek and Shiloh.  5 others served in the WBTS with honor too.

...

He did a credible effort.  But, just not the same.  Of course, it couldn't be.

First of all, there have been several noteworthy members of the Eagles. Many bands are NOT at their best, live.

Presumably Gill is the right pick for now, for his ability to harmonize with the others--that being the hallmark of the Eagles, all along. Plus he is tight with Henley, I think.

Did you know the Eagles group started backing up Linda Ronstadt in LA, and playing some Jackson Browne songs? 70-71.

Nobody in the band was originally from California, but it jelled there, presumably due in part, to the studio resources.

Plus Vince Gill is a very highly respected guitar player, another hallmark for the Eagles.

Here he is with a good Eagles tribute band, called Eaglemaniacs

I should have added that it was my all time favorite Eagles song, so nobody could do it totally right.

And, I did know the Ronstadt part.  She had a gorgeous voice, and I still listen to her music.

I didn't care for them that much '71-'75 either.  Then a guy named Joe Walsh joined and made them into band.  Hotel California and The Long Run are good listens.

Actually, I went to Clapton's Crossroad concert a number of years ago. I was surprised at the Vince Gill performance. He was really talented. I had no idea. Joe was there as well and they seemed to be very friendly.

I can see where Gill could harmonize well with them. That being said..I don't see myself paying any money to see them in this form. Sorry Don...
