Never-before-seen photos of leopard cub being raised by a lion

By Adam Popescu

A lioness has been spotted suckling a leopard cub for the first time. The unusual behaviour between two natural enemies was photographed in Tanzania’s Ngorongoro conservation area on 12 July.

Estimated to be only three weeks old, the leopard cub was seen nursing on a 5-year-old lioness that is collared and monitored by KopeLion, a conservation NGO in Tanzania supported by Panthera, the global wild cat conservation organisation.

Adopt a puppy or kitty from your local shelter
Or an older dog or cat. They're true love❤️

Remarkable. Would like to hope the cub will survive, but odds are against him. Maybe at some point the cub could be rescued and given to a pride of leopards?

Ugh, the pictures are adorable, but the little cub is going to end up dead from the pride or from nature asserting itself in the lioness.

@Applewood

Leopards are solitary cats, and it would be as risky to try and get a leopard mom to accept him.  I wish he could be rescued and hand-raised somehow.

I kinda wish I could adopt him. You know?  In my dreams maybe.
