Last year I managed to break my hip and have to have three screwss put in it. I was not able to sleep in out bed and had to sleep on the recliner for several weeks. Cassie our Cocker Spaniel has slept in our bed almost every night slept on my chest on the recliner every night until I was recovered enough to go back to out bed. She would not let the other dogs near me until she felt I was strong enough to deal with them.

Tha's hilarious!

I just found out that my friends' 16 year old pooch passed away.  They didn't tell me because they knew how much I loved her and they wanted to tell me in person.  So when I showed up to visit them yesterday, I got the news.

but I also got to meet two new members of the family!  They are sisters, Nyssa and Lucy.  8 weeks old.  One parent was black lab and great dane, the other black labradoodle.  So they are little black bundles of pure energy followed by naptime.

And they LOVE my beard...and my shoe laces.  Oh boy, once they discovered those two...forget it!  They started whining when I'd put them down.

Meeting them definitely softened the blow of losing Pixxie.

Dogs are the best.   What's more,  people who love dogs are the best.   Empathy and non-judgmental loyalty appear to be contagious.
