German lawmakers vote to legalize same-sex marriage

(CNN)German lawmakers voted to legalize same-sex marriage Friday, a landmark decision which came just days after Chancellor Angela Merkel dropped her longstanding opposition to a free vote on the issue.

The bill is likely to pass through the Bundesrat -- Germany's upper house -- next week. The Bundesrat has previously approved legalizing same-sex marriage.

What's wrong with legalized prostitution? You see, the thing about supply and demand is it exists no matter what the law has to say about it. If consumers want to pay for sex, then somebody is going to make money off that demand either way. All the law is doing is deciding exactly where that money goes. It can either go to legitimate businesses that employ people and pay taxes, or dangerous black market sex dealers. You can't make it go away, so what's the next best option? When prostitution is legal it's cleaner and safer for everybody involved.
