5 people, including Michigan health chief, charged in Flint 25 June 2017 Experts have linked the outbreak to the contamination of the city's water that occurred in April 2014, after the city began using water from the Flint River. His deliberate failure to inform the public resulted in the death of Genesee Township resident Robert Skidmore, 85, from Legionnaires' in December 2015, the documents said. Now in a breaking development two state officials have been charged with crimes, including the state's health department head Nick Lyon. Several other prominent officials make the list, including two departed officials: former Flint Emergency Manager Darnell Earley and former City of Flint Water Department Manager Howard Croft. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services had no comment when asked about the employment status of Lyon and Wells, who are both still listed on the department website under executive bios.
