Global diet and farming methods 'must change for environment's sake'

Date:

Source:

Summary:
Reducing meat consumption and using more efficient farming methods globally are essential to stave off irreversible damage to the environmental, a new study says. The research also found that future increases in agricultural sustainability are likely to be driven by dietary shifts and increases in efficiency, rather than changes between food production systems.

Total UN sponsored climate bullcrap. I'll believe it when I see the "big boys" touting it live like it's real.

Andrew Zimmerman from the Food Network "If it looks good eat it" show did a show on environmentally friendly foods.

One segment was using eggs to create different foods as a source of protein.

Most of the show was on using insects as a food source.   Of course he had the ants and grasshoppers.   He also did a piece on mealworms.   Their thinking is that you can grow enough mealworms in a 20 gal aquarium to provide all of your protein requirements.  This vs the acres of land required to grow cows and pigs.

This is their plan for the unwashed masses.

I forgot to add the link to one of the stories on this - http://www.smithsonianmag.com/science-nature/the-sustainable-meat-of-the-future-mealworms-168571999/

Mealworms rolled in flour and deep fried ain't bad at all. The wilderness survival MB class at the local scout camp did those every year.

But....fried mealworms will NEVER take the place of a good juicy rare steak.

Feed the damn bugs and worms to chickens and at least you got some yardbird on the table to eat.

That simply is not true. I have grown meal worms to feed to the chickens... They make a nice treat for them... and make for a serious protein source in the winter. But a 20 gallon aquarium will not grow enough meal worms to provide wholly for a single chicken, not to mention a hoomin.

Meal worms ain't bad, btw... fried, they have a delicious nutty taste.

If they get their way you won't have a choice.  It will be controlled through economics.    The price of beef is already skyhigh.  Wait until ground beef is $20 a pound.   Environmental regulations will discourage raising beef to further limit the supply.

I saw a small piece of flank steak at the store last week, $20
