Anatomy of a Witch Hunt
By William L. Gensert

When Robert Mueller III accepted his position as special counsel, he knew he would have to procure a scalp, or at the very least real blood from the president or someone close to him.

Mueller is a much admired man; he has had a good, long, and honorable career.  He has bipartisan respect for having served his country with integrity and distinction.  However, in government, integrity is no guarantee of longevity, or even survival, for that matter.  (See?  "Matter" and "investigation" are not synonyms unless you're Loretta Lynch.)

Fact: One of Mueller's recent "successes" is negotiating the settlement between the automobile giant VW Group and the US EPA. The issue was blatant fraud, by VW regarding diesel emission testing.

The result VW buys back or repairs the vehicles in question, and pays out a few $ billions.

In actual practice the vehicle owners are the big losers. The process put in place is awful.  I know, as one of the vehicle owners.

Remember a few years back, and the Audi A3 advertisement during the super Bowl, for "Clean Diesel?"

Guys like Mueller make a show of representing various "interests," but the interests they truly represent or the big $ institutional interests. The E$tablishment. The $$.

The individual car owner, forced to turn in his vehicle. Has no say.
