In the matter of immigration, mark this conservative columnist down as strongly pro-deportation. The United States has too many people who don't work hard, don't believe in God, don't contribute much to society and don't appreciate the greatness of the American system.

They need to return whence they came.

I speak of Americans whose families have been in this country for a few generations. Complacent, entitled and often shockingly ignorant on basic points of American law and history, they are the stagnant pool in which our national prospects risk drowning.

If this writer's point is there's too much dead weight in the US, I'd agree.

If his point is its 'the more the merrier come one come all 'cause its all good', I'd call him either a hopeless Pollyanna of the subject of immigration or just a dishonest self-interested greed bag.

We are already beginning to fly apart. We need an immigration timeout or the USA will become just a spot on the map where people come & squat.

The author's stats don't tell the whole story about the mess of immigration.  OTOH, I think he is right in pointing out that a huge percentage of our native-born Americans are pretty lousy citizens.

We might very well have reached a tipping point of disastrous ignorance and selfishness and complacency.  (Benjamin Franklin would say that the tipping point of Socialism actually dates all the way back to the institution of the Federal Income Tax, but a lot of other really bad things have happened to our society since then.)

Yes, there are a large number of deadbeats.  They are deadbeats because we have provided them the support to become such.

And, begs the question - so why import more?

I'm not going to get all teary eyed for 800,000 (0.25% of our total population) because their parents brought them here illegally.  Yes, there are a lot of "real Americans" that allow the gov't to take care of them.  I'd bet there are an equal amount of "real Americans" that are tired of paying for their lazy asses and don't want additional illegal, lazy asses to pay for.  Want to come here and make a great life for yourself?  Great! Do it the way great-grandma (Poland/Russia) and great-grandpa (Austria) did it; legally.

Wow, that article is something.  Of course I am not surprised.  I work with people just like that. 

Proud to be breeders who depend on all of the social benefits us deportable Americans pay for.
