A teenage Thai singer has pledged to cut back on her pelvic thrusts after the country’s prime minister publicly chastened her for indulging in too many dirty dance moves.
Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha this week reportedly digressed from a press briefing on rice to scold 18-year-old Lamyai Haithongkam for excessive twerking and provocative dancing.
“Media, please warn her. Audience are also to blame – they love it too,” he said, according to a report in Coconuts media.
Lamyai, whose real name is Supansa Vejkama, is a popular Thai country singer, famous for her hit song “Fun-loving Girl” which garnered over 230 million views on YouTube in just six months. Her signature moves involve nine consecutive thrusts.
Lamyai’s manager, Prachakchai Haithongkam, was contrite after the prime minister’s criticism, promising immediate action.
