Washington owned slaves too. I guess they’ll want to take down the Washington Monument next? Blast Mt. Rushmore into oblivion? Change the names of Washington state and DC? What about Jefferson? Implode Monticello? Most of the slaves were sold into slavery by their fellow Africans …Shall we wage war on them?

These folks are nuts.

There are not many absolutes in politics, but this is one of them.  The people in Texas will never allow this to happen to its state icon.

All one has to do is drive north of Houston on IH45 and see this.

About 20 miles from my house and, I'm proud to say, the artist who created it was a friend of mine.  Watched that statue take shape from it's inception.
"I wish it need not have happened in my time," said Frodo.

"So do I," said Gandalf, "and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us."

Wow, that's great.

I also lived about 20 miles away but have since moved.

Heard that the same artist was attempting to build a similar one of Crockett, I think up in Crockett, Texas.

I made a mistake when I said "Imagine what they'd do with the big Sam Houston Statue on Hwy 59 north in Huntsville?"
Of course it is on I-45, I knew that!

There would be violence and bloodshed if the idiots in Austin tried to remove the father of our state.

I agree that it is stupid.

While Sam Houston had the biggest impact to us, was it Houston or Stephen F. Austin given that title of Father of Texas?

As I recall, it was Stephen F. Austin.  But you're right, in that he had way less impact.

  • I was a "conspiracy theorist". Now I'm just right.
It won't stop now, or there.

Once they 'erase' all monuments of the Confederacy (which they think most people agree with), they will then move on to get rid of all monuments of the Founders, those evil, white slave owners who created an evil, racist and misogynistic nation in their thinking.

It's what all Socialist/Communist/Marxists do to societies they take over. They erase their history and rewrite it, which has been going on for decades in our school systems.

And in 20 years, once they have successfully gotten away with that, they will put up their own monuments to their revered gods - such as they have already erected in Seattle:

I'm not for defacing public monuments, but it is good to see someone got to that one and painted the hand(s?) red. Because he's one of those in history who has a lot of blood on his hands.

  • Ah, the air is so much fresher here...
Here's to hoping Texans rip their masks off, knock them to the ground, and bust their kneecaps.

Do you have any idea how many black people have the last name "Washington" or "Jefferson"?
