That is very much the reality of where this nation now finds itself.

So they will keep treating the symptoms so the carcass can trudge along until the cancer finally kills all the major organs and the body itself, most likely the economy and the dollar as they continue to spend trillions there is no possible way in the material universe to pay back.

More so than in the heyday of the 1950s/1960s and Soviet infiltration of the U.S. government?  I find that hard to believe.

The ones the Soviets emplaced were likely motivated by ideology. While that might be a part of what motivates some of the current crop, I think the fundamental force is greed. Whether greed for power or money, it's there, and the ones with the ideology thing going are using greed as a tool to build the machine. They are all termites, and the question is one of whether enough structure remains to stand without the bugs.
This isn't cloak and dagger, it's in-your-face, laughing as Americans rant impotently about getting ripped off.
