Mixed-use apartments overbuilt to suffocating capacity

The recently installed speed tables around the mall are too high, the asphalt around is crumbling and deep pools of rain water are gathering around them as there is no proper drainage. These were totally unnecessary; on any given day traffic is backed up and very slow, nobody is speeding. They were installed to make it more difficult for people to use their cars to go shopping; the regional planners want residents to use the new metro line and the bus lines already in existence. They want to “nudge” Americans out of their cars.

The entire area is now extremely congested thanks to the many high-rise, mixed-use apartments overbuilt to suffocating capacity. The construction of the metro line eliminated more driving roads and businesses.

The EZPass lanes from the Beltway were reallocated without much input from the American taxpayers and given to investors who now scalp drivers during rush hour by as much as $30 per 8-mile commute one way. Because the average commuter cannot afford such confiscatory rates, now the interstate is even more congested. Before EZPass, when the lanes were HOV, anybody could use the lanes for free during non-rush hours and during rush hour if they had 2-3 occupants per car. It seemed very equitable; these roads were built with taxpayer’s money. The investing group claimed that they had spent a few billions in improvements.Progressives are telling us or forcing us to tighten our carbon foot print belts, to use less water, less air conditioning, less electricity, to eat less meat, drive tin can Smart Cars, and build tiny apartments, while they live in mega mansions by the sea

Bicycle paths are being built everywhere , downtowns are closed to traffic completely, streets are narrowed to make driving more inconvenient, parking lots are eliminated, parking garages charge exorbitant fees, and high-rises are built without any parking spaces, all in an effort to discourage Americans to own a car and eventually to force them into public transportation.

New York boasts 400 miles of bike paths; they have transformed Times Square into a pedestrian zone, “equity of space” as planners said, where everyone can relax and spend quality time with each other rather than alone in cars, driving all the time. What if one needs to rush somewhere?

Millennials are first in line to advocate for bike paths but I don’t see any of them biking to work on the dangerous Beltway to and from D.C.; they are usually alone in their Beamers.

I am familiar with the proletariat masses having no cars during my years of living under a communist regime. We stayed close to home, within a 40 mile radius by bus or train, or as far as we could bike, or our feet could carry us. But the ruling elite had chauffeurs, elegant cars, and planes at their disposal.

Progressives are telling us or forcing us to tighten our carbon foot print belts, to use less water, less air conditioning, less electricity, to eat less meat, drive tin can Smart Cars, and build tiny apartments, while they live in mega mansions by the sea, sail in huge yachts, ride in limos, jet around the world to resorts and climate change conferences, and own many expensive cars running on fossil fuels.Sustainable Development, regionalism, and Smart Growth/Green Growth

Most people don’t know that all these changes are deliberate and have been implemented for decades under the aegis of United Nations’ Agenda 21/2030 and sold to Americans as Sustainable Development, regionalism, and Smart Growth/Green Growth, encompassing every facet of our lives.

Every state in the U.S., every nation on the planet that had signed onto U.N. Agenda 21 in 1992 is now a victim of Sustainable Development, the lynchpin of U.N. Agenda 21/2030, of social engineering, of regionalism, of urbanism, and of the “nudge” out of cars and into public transportation, buses, light rail, and long distance trains.

Regulations have been proven more restrictive and draconian than legislation. The people’s behavior has been modified bit by bit to align with the visions of the members of the Club of Rome who allegedly wrote U.N. Agenda 21. Adults and children are conditioned and controlled to adhere ...

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. Why else would we be burdened with traffic circles in North Dakota?

No matter which way the wind blows, there will be snowdrifts. Going in circles on ice? Really? Now try to plow snow out of that thing! Insanity. No one here will take the bike path or walk very far for 6 months out of the year (well, except for kids who have to be called in).

Insanity imposed by idiots.

Part of the same garbage: ICLEI to be imposed on the locals...

    Agenda 21
        the Habitat Agenda
        the Millennium Development Goals

ICLEI also provides oversight for the Compact of Mayors, a global coalition of city leaders founded to address climate change at the local level.[12]

Agenda 21 was the brainchild of Maurice Strong, the George Soros most never heard of. He was a Canadian billionare who ended up living his final days in China.

He wanted to require licensing of childbirth and exterminate 2 thirds of the world's population through Eugenics. The western hemisphere (and much of the rest of the world) would be turned into vast UN Heritage reserves and those of us allowed to live would have the pleasure of living in a few mega cities.

IIRC, it was Strong, Soros, and AlGore who stood to make trillions from the Carbon Credit Exchange, but they never could get cap and trade through. http://www.nytimes.com/cwire/2011/01/03/03climatewire-chicago-climate-exchange-closes-but-keeps-ey-78598.html?pagewanted=all

Gore and Blood, the former chief of Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM), co-founded London-based GIM in 2004. Between 2008 and 2011 the company had raised profits of nearly $218 million from institutions and wealthy investors. By 2008 Gore was able to put $35 million into hedge funds and private partnerships through the Capricorn Investment Group, a Palo Alto company founded by his Canadian billionaire buddy Jeffrey Skoll, the first president of EBay Inc. It was Skoll’s Participant Media that produced Gore’s feverishly frightening 2006 horror film, “An Inconvenient Truth”.

The problem with suburbs, according to the followers of Agenda 21, is that people are hard to control out there.

They tend to be independent and create their living spaces they way they like them.  You can't force them onto a bus or a train to travel from Point A to Point B.  The entire suburb is it's own ecosystem and people want to move freely within it.

It's the same problem we have with the small business person.  They tend to be independent and resist control by government overseers.  They want to run their businesses they way they like because they just don't understand what's good for them.

Stupid people.

Well, you hit upon the problem. Those darned Liberty Lovers just make it so darned hard for the central planners to control everything. Make rules for the rural rubes and they ignore them, start HOAs telling people it'll make their property more valuable and people won't join so the local tyrants can tell them when to mow their grass and whether they can fly a flag. What a pain...It's for their own good, after all.

/sarcasm, but that's how they think. How did we end up with people  like that in America, anyway?
