The document appears to contain the biographical information of thousands of people who signed a public petition from April condemning the Trump administration.....

...The document appears to be incomplete, but it has guidelines for how to add to it. It also makes a point of attempting to identify the religious affiliation and sexual orientations of people listed.....

...It also comes with instructions on how to find and compile information on people. The process is called doxing.....

...In terms of what's actually in the document, many entries are completely fleshed out, with lengthy bios, home addresses, work addresses, phone numbers, and a full list of social media accounts.....

We know no one here is currently like this, but for any lurkers, Doxxing is illegal and not tolerated in this site. Two members were banned over this.

Just posting what is in the news. I didn't put my opinion down on if this particular incident happened. Don't think for a second trolls on both sides wouldn't do this.

No, it's not paranoia.  It's as real as ID theft, and people have been hurt by both.  You are not doing anybody any good by denying the hazard.

Whatever. And you want to just live in the world where the team you sided with is as clean as the wind driven snow, just like the Antifada crowd claims they are peaceful. There are extremist trolls on both sides who take it very personally and believe they are in an actual war. It happens all the time. Remember about a month ago a Trump supporter was Doxxed for something he wrote to the Huffington Post and he lost his job?

I also know you are aware of the two attempted cases here where, in one case, links were given to someone's personal LinkedIn account with the not so implied threat it would be 'bad' if what they said was released and in another case, a former member started posting real members full names in several threads. (full names, not just someone happening to know a first name like saying "Hi Mark".).

This is the underbelly of the internet world that has been a lot more open lately. Political doxxing has been part of the 'game' for a long time. One of the reasons it has been made illegal in most places as a type of cyber bullying.

Looks like the whole world is going Fascist.   We can't just have a difference of opinion anymore,  people have to CONFORM

Of course the left has been doing this to us for awhile,  and i'm not sure that I don't see turnabout as fair play.

One thing we need to separate are the average Joe and Joanna's like we know in real life who may have different opinions from internet trolls. The internet troll world is just as split politically and even more active. To many, it is a big game, no holds barred. To many who are true believers (antifada types), it is an actual war and they believe they are soldiers doing the only thing they know how.

It is good to know these aren't just your average folk, but at the same time, raise awareness so the average person doesn't fall into these games thinking it is OK.

For example, look at Yelp bullying when a store does something bad (true or not), thousands and thousands of people pile on leaving bad, nasty reviews. These often are normal people who would never be nasty in real life, they just get caught up in it. (I saw my old retired neighbor jumping on the 'Brad's Wife' attacks on Cracker Barrel recently).

A group of fellow conservatives and I have been stalked by Leftists that we encountered in cyberspace. This was long before Facebook where people use their actual names for all to see. They were collecting data on us and trying to put tidbits of info together to create a profile for each of us. We had all started off on a message board that became so contentious it was shut down. We conservatives spent the next couple of years trying to keep them from following us from site to site. While it slacked off, it took us a good 10 years to be completely free of them. It was very creepy because we didn't really know how much info they had on us. They were the foaming-at-the-mouth types. Disagreeing with them would send them into a rage. Imagine my alarm when, during the 2016 presidential campaign, I found myself under identical attack from those I always believed were my fellow travelers.

There was a FReeper doing things like that to me, even on Facebook, trying to embarrass me and all that.

Also remember the old Clown Posse wars where it was happening all over the place. Those people are still around on both sites.

I used to be one of the original leads in a start up called Epinions and you wouldn't believe the kind of crap that happened over there like this. And that was over supposed product reviews. People quickly jump into cliques and fight each other. With the anonymity of the internet, people think it is just fun and games until it comes back to bite them.

In those cases, some who were doing the doxxing were the ones who faced serious consequences, more than the people they were outing.

If people go to the extreme cases like those  product reviews on there or Yelp, imagine what they are willing to do over political issues that are actually relevant.

It's getting ugly out there...

It is indeed getting ugly out there.

I know Nixon supposedly had an enemies list and I'm totally sure Hillary had one but I'm not seeing the point of this kind of list.

What does one have to do to get on it?  Post on Facebook?  Post on TOS?  March somewhere with a Trump hat on?

This is just kinda weird.

The end point, coming from both ends, is destruction of the opposition. Not convincing them, but destroying their lives. For example a story I saw earlier today, a principal at a school was doxxed after making a post supporting the pro-confederate monument protestors in New Orleans. He was fired from his job when his identity was revealed and people swarmed the school's email with demands of his ousting.

There's probably a ton of personal info floating around on all of us somewhere on the dark net.  At least... that's the meme we're supposed to believe.  Then again, it could be just hype from a bunch of guys trying to sell identify theft protection....lol.
