Tick Bites - Topic Overview

Ticks camera.gif are small spiderlike animals (arachnids) that bite to fasten themselves onto the skin and feed on blood. Ticks live in the fur and feathers of many birds and animals. Tick bites occur most often during early spring to late summer and in areas where there are many wild animals and birds.

We're having a real tick problem in my area. Dogs are coming down with Lyme disease in great numbers, according to a local vet. Of course, the pups go into the house, roll around on the sofa and end up sharing their ticks with humans. I did a little piece for my local paper urging people to take precautions including using tick repellent on pets and using 20% DEET repellent on themselves.

My sister came down with Lyme a few years ago and it was horrible.
