Low-sodium diet might not lower blood pressure
Findings from large, 16-year study contradict sodium limits in Dietary Guidelines for Americans

Summary:
    A new study that followed more than 2,600 men and women for 16 years found that consuming less sodium wasn't associated with lower blood pressure. The study adds to growing evidence that current recommendations for limiting sodium intake may be misguided.

Sodium doesn't cause long term blood pressure. Junk carbs do.

I tend to think you're right.  If you go by medical standards, I eat a lot more salty foods than I should, but my blood pressure is below normal (thank God).

My dad put on some weight when I was growing up, and his blood pressure got too high.  He liked salty foods, too.  When he asked his doctor if he needed to cut back, the doctor told him no, salt wasn't the problem.

Daddy lost the belly weight, and his BP went back to normal.
