** In Afghanistan, at least 140 Afghan soldiers and officers were killed by the Taliban, in what is being described as "the single deadliest known attack" of its kind in the country's 16-year war.  Ten Taliban jihadists drove two civilian trucks past seven Afghan military checkpoints to enter the Kabul base.  For the next five hours, the Taliban assailants went on a mass shooting-spree, eventually blowing themselves up in the process.  The final death toll may exceed 200.  Afghan military personnel were caught off-guard because they were attending Friday prayers.

** In war-torn Syria, 126 people were killed, 68 of them children, when jihadists attacked a bus convoy full of civilians trying to evacuate the Shia villages of Al-Fu'ah and Kafraya.  Elsewhere in Syria, ISIS has released a video of a young boy dressed in military camouflage, said to be 6-years-old, where the child states: "(May) the infidel and his killer never meet in hell."  The boy then hands two knives to two ISIS fighters, who promptly saw off the heads of two innocent captives.
