California AG on Sanctuary City Status: Constitution Gives Us the Right to Decide How to Do Public Safety

(CNSNews.com) - California Attorney General Xavier Becerra defended California’s sanctuary city status, telling ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopolous” on Sunday that the U.S. Constitution gives states “the right to decide how to do public safety.”

“We have been abiding by federal law for quite some time before Jeff Sessions became the attorney general. We're going the continue to abide by federal law and the U.S. Constitution, and we're hoping the federal government will also abide by the U.S. constitution, which gives my state the right to decide how to do public safety. That's not their responsibility under the U.S. Constitution,” Becerra said.

He is, of course, correct.  Unfortunately for him, he and Mejifornia will have to do it without federal funds and for a state that is so deeply in debt, that will be a challenge.
