The Israel Defense Forces struck a base controlled by a pro-Syrian government militia Sunday, killing three and wounding two others, according a statement from the militia group.

The IDF air strike reportedly targeted the National Defense Forces, a militia group loyal to Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, in the Quneitra governate early Sunday morning. The strike followed previous IDF strikes in Syria Friday, which occurred after projectiles landed in Israel’s Golan Heights. The projectiles were a result of errant fire, according to the Jerusalem Post.

Israel has to protect itself but stories like these are still surprising.

An Israeli attack on a Syrian camp for pro-government forces killed three fighters near the Golan Heights on Sunday, an official from the forces said.

The official told AFP that two fighters were also wounded in the attack on the Al-Fawwar camp near Quneitra in southwestern Syria, adding that it was unclear whether the damage was inflicted by an air strike or shelling.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group said the attack had targeted a "weapons warehouse" in the camp.

Israel's army declined to comment Sunday on the attack.

On Friday the army said it targeted positions inside Syria in retaliation for mortar fire that hit the northern part of the Golan Heights.

The war has no end in site, troubles will occur for some time, I think Iraq can be fairly tranquil vs. Syria and Afghanistan and probably other nations.

Why would Israel fight those on the side of Assad?  Are they trying to goad Putin or give Iran a stronger foothold there?

They are usually targeting either a storage of weapons or those who have fired missiles at them as is this case here.  What are they suppose to do?

Netanyahu has met Putin a number of times, they have a fairly good relationship.

Well, if the relationship with Putin is good... work with him for help. 

It just seems if Israel keeps crossing borders to drop bombs in another country, sooner or later someone in that country is going to get pissed off enough to retaliate ... in the real sense of the word.

There is no dishonor in negotiating the outcome you desire.  Not everything requires munitions and a breach of borders.

Speaking for myself, I would like to see Israel bomb the whole of Syria right down into dust.

And then, move into the area and appropriate it for itself...

Iran's proxy vs. Israel is Hezbollah among other parties. Everyone has probably heard of Hezbollah.

Hizbullah (as spelled here) is indeed designated as a terrorist organization by the state department.

It starts to get complex per some of these parties being called terrorists. Yes, they are terrorists in that they have carried out terrorist attacks on say, Israel or Jews say, in some place like Argentina, there was an attack that killed many.

Israel has been trying to avoid the appearance of taking sides as that would make them participant in the war rather than defending of their territory.

Their objective was to destroy the facility.  The Golan Heights is their red line - their safe line between Israel and Syria - any attack coming from that direction such as rockets, gets a response to destroy where they came from.
