If Trump Loses Bannon, Trump Loses the Presidency
By Robert Barnes

I bet big on Donald Trump in the 2016 elections, rather famously.  Now I will be shorting Trump stock for the foreseeable future until Bannon, and Bannon-ism, returns to policy dominance in the White House.

Should Trump ever lose Bannon entirely, Trump is a lame duck.  Some media suggest that Trump could replace Bannon with Jared Kushner.  Jared Kushner is to Steve Bannon what Dan Quayle was to JFK.

Seriously poor comparison, really. JFK was a long dead democrat when Quayle was just a GOP no. 2 (VP). It doesn't matter how you spell potato(e), if you aren't there to eat them.

Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It would be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.

The isolationist, protectionist alt-Right needs to be given the John Birch treatment by the remaining grown-ups in the Republican Party.
"The most terrifying force of death, comes from the hands of Men who wanted to be left Alone. They try, so very hard, to mind their own business and provide for themselves and those they love. They resist every impulse to fight back, knowing the forced and permanent change of life that will come from it. They know, that the moment they fight back, their lives as they have lived them, are over. -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

I tend to agree with the author's assessment.  Whether you like Bannon or not is not the question - the question is: "will Bannon be able to keep the Trump presidency from going as far left as the Kushner group would take it if Bannon weren't around?"

Given that Kushner wasn't around during the actual election and Bannon was, I'd say you're right.

Ridiculously idiotic article. Is this opposite day? Because the opposite is true.

Conservative media is as dumb as can be lately and this article is proof positive of that.

A bit hyperbolic and a bit early to be calling a Trump presidency "lame duck" under any circumstances.

The author forgets that some Congress-critter will step forward to shepherd Trump's agenda. The problem is, that critter will probably be rather Ryan-esque and deliver more crap like that BS Ryancare bill.

Trump would do well to surround himself with more folks like Sessions.
How to lose credibility while posting:
1. Trump is never wrong.
2. Default to the most puerile emoticon you can find. This is especially useful when you can't win an argument on merits.
3. Be falsely ingratiating, completely but politely dismissive without talking to the points, and bring up Hillary whenever the conversation is really about conservatism.
4. When all else fails, remember rule #1 and #2. Emoticons are like the poor man's tweet!

Now, that I can agree with.  However, Sessions-likes appear to be in short supply in general and in seriously short supply around Trump.

Trump was quickly on his way to being a lame duck. Nobody wants to do business with a Twitter loony. Shitcanning Bannon was a good first step, and he seems to have his Twitter impulses a little better under control (that and we're all more used to them).

Most of us already knew that.

Trump got elected as an outsider. Like him or not, Bannon represents 'outsider' far far better than Kushner, who's a flaming liberal. He has no business anywhere near the president's ear.

But as someone else said, obviously Trump would be far better served by a Sessions or Cruz as an advisor.

Probably not.  But Trump's instincts seem pretty good on appointments and regulations.  And legislatively, Congress wouldn't go as far left as Kushner might want to take it, so there is some protection on that end as well.

I think that the claim that Trump would be a lame duck without Bannon is patently absurd.  Come to think of it.... it fits right in with most of the other BS being spread since January 20.

The most doomed presidency evah and it's only just begun. By the end of his second term they'll be talking about his first one hundred dooms rather than his first one hundred days.

Nope. Trump already has the Presidency, he doesn't need Bannon
