President Trump is "prepared to do more" to stop the ongoing civil war in Syria if Russia cannot convince Syrian President Bashar Assad to abide by ceasefire agreements, a top U.S. diplomat warned Friday.

"The United States took a very measured step last night," U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley told the Security Council on Friday. "We are prepared to do more, but we hope that will not be necessary. It is time for all civilized nations to stop the horrors that are taking place in Syria and demand a political solution."

She largely implicated Russia's actions or inactions as being a part of the attacks.

It seems Haley is largely saying what many have for some time, Russia is not really fighting ISIS there or maybe that is in reading between the lines.

Russia isn't fighting ISIS as such. They are fighting the rebels. Sometimes ISIS gets in the way of that and gets swatted, but it's rarely a deliberate action. Assad's forces have currently pretty much given up on the eastern parts of Syria and have been concentrating on the populous western half.
