US threatens unilateral action if United Nations fails to act on Syria
Agence France Presse | Published — Wednesday 5 April 2017

US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley holds photos of victims as she speaks as the UN Security Council meets in an emergency session at the UN. (AFP)

UNITED NATIONS, UNITED STATES: The United States warned Wednesday that it could take unilateral action if the United Nations fails to respond to a suspected chemical attack in Syria that has left scores dead, including children.

“When the United Nations consistently fails in its duty to act collectively, there are times in the life of states that we are compelled to take our own action,” US Ambassador Nikki Haley said.
The warning came during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council called by France and Britain after the attack in the early hours on Tuesday on a rebel-held town in Idlib province.

Haley lashed out at Russia for failing to rein in its ally Syria, standing in the council chamber to hold up photographs of victims — one showing a young child lying lifeless, a mask covering his face.

I hate to say this, but this could be an opportunity.  Assuming we have verification, suppose we lob a bunch of cruise missiles on his Presidential Palace.

Maybe we get him, maybe we don't, but every country in the world will look at us differently after that.  Not a bad thing given the problems with NK and Iran.

Syria crossed a serious line again, this time during a new POTUS. Lets see if this one responds differently. The use of chemical weapons is serious sh@%.

We need to promote the Kurdish Autonomous Movement more, Hate to say it, but Biden was right about splitting up Iraq up into 3 states, hindsight is 20/20.
WE owe the Kurds that much.
Screw Turkey, kick them out of NATO and screw Syria too. IMHO
No government in the 12,000 years of modern mankind history has led its people into anything but the history books with a simple lesson, don't let this happen to you.

Though Unilateral was the term used, I think anything would be a joint operation and it's been known the Saudis and Turks may well want to get in there. This is all interesting, we would provide cover.

Or most likely, some sort of sanctioning or such measures will be implemented.

VIDEO: How the Idlib massacre happened
Staff writer, Al Arabiya English Wednesday, 5 April 2017

More than 100 people were killed including children, women, and the elderly by rockets filled with poison gas in the town of Khan Sheikhoun, in the Southern suburb of Idlib on Tuesday morning.

Witnesses in northern Hama countryside confirmed that the warplane that bombed the site was a Sukhoi Su-22, which was also confirmed by Russia in a statement.

...

Sham News Network reported that the Syrian regime threw explosive barrels containing sarin gas, which resulted in civilians suffocating.

Barrel bombs,  that's why it is believable that the Assad regime did this, if the reporting is correct.

We don't know who used them.
