Birthday surprise for Doris Day as she discovers she is 95 - two years older than she thought

American star Doris Day has received a birthday surprise - she has discovered that she is 95, not 93.

The actress and singer known for films including Pillow Talk and Move Over Darling thought she was turning 93 on Monday, having pegged her age to a 1924 birth date.

However, a copy of Day's birth certificate, obtained by the Associated Press, has revealed that she was actually born in 1922.

In some cases but lots of them simply decide to retire and be done with it. Others like Cloris Leachman and Betty White are still working. Some simply can't work due to health issues.

If it weren't for William Hartnell developing arteriosclerosis and having trouble learning his lines, we wouldn't have Dr Who today.

In Doris's case, it seems she wanted it that way. She doesn't like to act or travel anymore. Since the 1980s, she's pretty much been content being the "crazy cat lady."
